Step by step guide on how to record your first automation.
How does it work
TaskMagic allows you to capture steps you took in a browser then save those steps to turn it into a repeatable automation that can even use dynamic data! Whenever you click, type, change URLs etc. we will track that as step for your automation.
Start recording your first automation
To start recording an automation, click on the “Start capturing” button. You can also read one of our “How-to articles” to get an idea of what you can do.
Repeat the exact same steps as normal
TaskMagic will capture clicks, typing, URL changes etc. for you so just do whatever it is that you do! Don’t worry if you misclick, you can always add/edit/delete steps after your recording
Captured Steps
Anytime we capture a step (click, type, keypress) you will see a notification alert you
Recording bar
In our Recording bar we have two main options. List and text. List is going to be the list you want to scrape the information of, in this case a list of username. Text is going to be a unique element that you’ll be scraping only once, maybe you just want to know what text was on the page at that moment. Once you scrape a list, you’ll see the list in the scraped data section. You can also finish the automaion with the red button to the top left of the Record bar.
If you click
the icon on the right you can see more information about the automation, like more elements you've scraped as well as edit or delete some steps.
Done? Stop recording
After you have finished capturing all steps of your automation click stop recording to add more filters, connect google sheets or turn this on to run automatically
When you click on the red button, you’ll see a pop up asking you where you want all the data stored. You can chose google sheets or webhooks. In this case we chose google.
If you chosse google make sure you are connected with your google account.
If you don’t have your google account connected with us, please do the following. Share the google sheet link on this page and also share the sheet with this email: automations@taskmagic.com
After automation
You are now done. This is what you’ll see. There are a lot of options you can do to your automation. Please read I finished recording, now what? for more information.
