What are the Two TaskMagic Windows I See When I Am Recording an Automation?

Understanding the Two TaskMagic Windows During Automation Recording

Introduction: In the world of automation, efficiency is key. When using the TaskMagic desktop app for recording automations, users encounter two distinct windows that play pivotal roles in the process. Let's dive into the details of these two windows and how they streamline the automation building experience.

The Main Window: The first window users encounter is the main window of the TaskMagic app. This is the central hub where all automation building takes place. Here, users have the power to edit, activate, and manage various automation tasks with ease. It serves as the control center for crafting seamless automated workflows.

The Recording Window: When venturing into a new automation task and initiating a browser recording, a second window comes into play - the recording window. This supplementary window acts as a conduit for interacting with the chromium window that launches alongside it. Within the recording window, users execute steps, commands, and interactions that form the backbone of the automation sequence.

Communication Between Windows: The communication between the main window and the recording window is vital for the success of automation recording. Every action taken in the main window, such as adding steps or initiating recording, triggers corresponding responses in the recording window. This dynamic interaction ensures seamless synchronization between the user's commands and the chromium window's actions.

Executing and Concluding Automation: Once the automation recording is complete, users can finalize the process by clicking "I'm done," which dismisses both the recording and chromium windows. This signifies the end of the automation session, returning users to the main window with a polished automation sequence ready for execution.

Playback and Monitoring: To witness the magic of automation in action, users can click "play steps" in the main window, prompting the relaunch of the chromium window for playback. This feature allows users to observe their automation sequence unfold step by step, providing valuable insights and debugging opportunities.

Conclusion: Understanding the functionality of the two TaskMagic windows during automation recording is essential for harnessing the full potential of automated workflows. By mastering the intricacies of these windows, users can elevate their efficiency, productivity, and accuracy in automation tasks, paving the way for seamless workflow automation.

VIDEO TRANSCRIPT

When you're using the desktop app, there are a couple different windows that you're going to see throughout the recording process. So this is the main window that we have here. And this is where all of our automation building takes place. We can edit, uh, turn on, et cetera, all these things with our automations.

Then when we want to start a new automation and we launch a new browser recording, this is creating a tray window. You can call it or, you know, a drawer or whatever you want to call this. And this is the recording window. This is responsible for helping us interact with the chromium window that also launches, which is where all of your steps are going to take place.

So this window over here. communicates with this window whenever we add steps, record steps, things like that. So when I say google. com and I click save, go to URL, this tells the chromium window to go to that page. When I click the plus icon and then I say I want to record a click step, this lets the chromium window know That you're now wanting to record and to set this in that recording state when we finish recording, we can click.

I'm done. And this is going to dismiss both the recording and the chromium window since they're not needed anymore. And we're going to be back here with just the desktop app. The main window. If we click play steps, we're going to see that this launches the chromium window again so that we can see the automation play.

But because we're not running the automation, or sorry, because we're not recording any automation right now, there's no tray window or recording window on the side here.
