How Do I Know If My Automation is Live or Turned Off?

Title: Understanding Automation: How to Know If Your Automation is Live and Functioning

Automation can be a game-changer in streamlining tasks and processes, but how do you know if your automation is truly live and ready to work its magic? Let's dive into the different indicators that show your automation is turned on and functioning seamlessly.

Checking the Status of Your Automation

When managing automation in your workspace, one key indicator is the "turn on" button located in the top right corner. A green button signifies that your automation is already active and ready to go. However, a disabled button could mean that a trigger is missing, rendering the automation unable to run even if turned on. It's crucial to ensure all triggers are properly set up for a smooth automation process.

Two Modes of Activation: Desktop vs. Cloud

Turning on your automation can be done either from the desktop or the cloud. Activating it from the desktop means the automation will be triggered from your computer in a headless mode, running behind the scenes without a visible browser. Adjusting this setting to show the browser during operation can be done through advanced settings.

On the other hand, activating the automation from the cloud allows it to run from cloud servers, ensuring that the automation continues to function even if your computer is offline. This distinction is vital for ensuring uninterrupted automation processes.

Monitoring and Verification

When your automation is turned on, you'll notice specific icons that indicate its activation source - either the desktop icon or the cloud icon. Additionally, a visual cue in the form of a green light will signal that the automation is live and operational. This visual feedback provides reassurance that your automation is running as intended.

Conclusion

Understanding how to verify the status of your automation is essential for ensuring its efficacy and reliability in streamlining tasks. By familiarizing yourself with the indicators of live automation and the activation modes available, you can confidently manage and monitor your automated processes for seamless operation.

By paying attention to these key elements, you can ensure that your automation is not only turned on but also optimized for efficient performance.

Okay, so there's a couple different ways that you're going to be able to tell that your automation is turned on and how you're going to manage that. So, if we click into our workspace or any automation here, we'll see this turn on button in the top right corner. If your automation is already on, this is going to be green.

Um, but with that being said, I'll go over the different options. Things we can expect here. So if you see this button is disabled, then you probably don't have a trigger set up, which means that even if you turn this on, it has no possible way to ever be ran. So if you see this as disabled, just be cautious.

You might not have a trigger set up. When we turn this on, we have two different options. We can turn this on from desktop or from cloud. If we turn it on from desktop, then whenever this automation is triggered, which in this example is going to be by webhook, then it's going to start this automation from our computer and run this in a headless mode, which means that no browser shows behind the scenes.

We can adjust that setting by clicking advanced settings and then screen settings. And turning this on that way, it always shows a browser when we run, if we want that for whatever reason. The other option is turning on from cloud. What this does is this runs the automation from our cloud servers instead of your computer.

So if this automation is supposed to run and your computer is turned off, then this automation isn't going to have a way to run unless it was turned on from cloud, or unless you go and manually replay all of the ones that weren't able to run. So when we turn this on, we'll see one of two icons. We're either going to see the desktop icon telling us that this is turned on from desktop, or we will see the cloud icon telling us that this is turned on from cloud.

We can also see on the left here that this will light up as green. Whenever an automation is turned on, we can see that in the workspace section right here as well.
