Everything you need to know about automating Instagram

We recommend that you read this article before triggering Instagram Automations

This article will often be added to and updated as we learn more about instagram to protect our users.

Before you start running your Instagram automations using Task Magic, we strongly encourage you to read this article!

First off, automating Instagram using Task Magic is NOT Ban proof or prevented from suspension. So there is a risk there! However, thousands of users are triggering instagram automations daily and we rarely get a report of a suspended, or banned accounts. We have found that the scraping automations (sourcing usernames) has resulted with Instagram getting involved the quickest, likely with a warning or a suspension. When users are building a scraping flows and use it to scrape A LOT of usernames out of the gates is when we are seeing the most reports of suspended account. So we advice that you START SLOW- WARM UP your account— Example: start with 10 scrolls and run the scrape flow a few times, then 20 scrolls, then 50, then 100 and so on. It would not be best to start with 5000 scrolls with your first attempt to source usernames. Your account has never done that much activity.

Here is the formula to follow to prevent your account from being suspended or worse banned: MIMIC HUMAN PERFORMANCE. Meaning DO NOT trigger 5 instagram automations at once performing the same tasks simultaneously— that is impossible for a human to do, and will likely trigger a detected bot from the Instagrams side. If you consider what can a human in a day on instagram, generally if you stay within those parameters you’ll be pretty good.

Anther tip for getting started with instagram automations is that we recommend warming up your account- allow it to recognize the activity you are going to be doing regularly.

As a member of the team, I use Task Magic to automate my own instagram account- I run 20 auto-follows at 10am, 11am, 12pm, 1pm & I run 10 auto messages at 2pm, 3pm, 4pm, 5pm, 6pm but I needed to gradually work up to that much activity.

We would also recommend mixing up the type of actively you are doing as much as possible. Change up your message, schedule to trigger at different times, turn off the flows for a day.

Feel free to do some experimenting when you feel comfortable:

Example of a user that was able to consistently send 100 messages daily. They built 4 different instagram message automations, used a daily trigger, and schedule each automation to trigger and send 25 messages at different times of the day, with a different type of message for each— example trigger at 9am, 12pm, 4pm, 7pm.

You will still wants to be aware of the terms and use of service agreement from Instagram.
